Essential Supplies for Glitter Tumblers

If you’re looking to make tumblers, you’re more likely than not feeling overwhelmed by the number of supplies out there – and let’s be real, the price tag associated with them. Fortunately, you don’t need to buy every single item to make tumblers. With the right essentials, you can make beautiful, personalized tumblers without breaking the bank.

Don’t Worry I Got You! Re: The Tumbler Supply Checklist

To help you get started, I’ve put together a free checklist of the essential supplies you need to make tumblers. To begin, you’re of course going to need tumblers. I recommend Craft Haven as they have a great selection of styles and shapes and their prices are great for the quality of the tumblers. A case of 25 tumblers is often offered at a discounted rate, so if you’re planning to make a lot, it’s a great way to save some money.

Tumblers

First, you need something to decorate! Most common is a stainless steel tumbler because they’re double walled and good quality for your drinks. The more durable item you use to decorate - the longer your cups will last! Now, I get my tumblers from Craft Haven. Huge variety and you can use code: alisoncrafts to save!

The best news is that you can also use glass, plastic, and ceramic if you’re looking for a different style!

Base Paints and Top Coats

Next, you need base coats, top coats and paints. I use CrystaLac products as they’re water-based and non-toxic, which I highly recommend if you’re looking for less toxic alternatives or perhaps you are also allergic to epoxy like me. If you want to check out my journey check out this blog post. You’ll also need some paints for a base coat – I recommend Rustoleum 2X primer paints, CrystaLac Universal Gray or Flip Awesome Paints. I use CrystaLac Grand Finale to get my tumblers shiny and durable, and CrystaLac Glitter Glue as an adhesive to seal the glitter.

Glitter, A Crafter’s Best Friend

If you’re making glitter tumblers, you’ll need glitter! As crafters we love glitter, so it’s easy to get carried away with glitter buying, so it’s important to be mindful of how much space and money you’re wanting and willing to invest. When starting with glitter tumblers, I recommend starting off with a base of colors – pastels, blues, pinks, greens – whatever colors you like. I recommend Glitzy Kreations and Glitter Dipped Sips, and you can use my discount codes to save 10% at both stores.

Personalization Supplies

The last essential piece of making a tumbler is personalizing it with a decal. You can use vinyl if you have a Silhouette or Cricut, or alternatively you can also buy decals. There are so many different options but you can buy fun vinyl and decals from my favorite place: North Eighty!

Another way to keep your designs & cups really cute is to try new fonts & other svg designs. I use Creative Fabrica for fonts and designs to use to personalize my tumblers – it’s $9 a month and you can get your first month free. I’ll literally never stop paying for it - I use it every single day!!

Other Tools

Other supplies you’ll need include sandpaper, rubbing alcohol, and an Exacto knife. If you’re using resin, you’ll need a cup turner, which you can get on Amazon for a reasonable price. It is optional if you are using CrystaLac’s top coat, but I do recommend them as they do make the process a lot easier! I break down all of the tools you need in my free checklist (you can grab here for free!)

Making tumblers can be a fun and creative way to express yourself, and with the right essentials, you can make beautiful and personalized tumblers without breaking the bank.
